What I Practice

The Old Ways, Folk Witchcraft The Cunning Ways

My own craft is called the Blackthorn Tradition. Its foundation is a form of Cornish traditional witchcraft as laid out by Gemma Gary but with my own aspect which uses traditional Cornish witchcraft as the foundation stone to which I created the Blackthorn Tradition based on Raven Grimassie' Thorn Blooded Witch Tradition. It is a branch the binds both traditions to form my own practice. I have drawn into my workings my teachings also from my mum, gran, grandpa and my great nan Bella. Who non of the mentioned are witches but are spiritualists, tea leaf readers, palm readers, diviners, mediums and work in spirit churches where I grew up.

What is Traditional Witchcraft?

Traditional Witchcraft is the practice of working and studying a non wiccan and in most cases a non pagan path. Most traditional witchcraft forms do not use or have a religion and the witch walks the worlds between all religions and takes from any source. Traditional witchcraft is a term used to refer to a variety of contemporary forms of witchcraft. Pagan studies scholar Ethan Doyle White described it as "a broad movement of aligned magico-religious groups who reject any relation to Gardnerianism and the wider Wiccan movement, claiming older, more "traditional" roots.. The roots I follow is Cornish traditional witchcraft that has never stopped being used or practiced in Cornwall but my personal practice incorporates folkloric witchcraft study. I use historical records folklore and my own instinct, modern teachings and many, many books to try and recreate parts of traditional practice which is long since forgotten. If you view my Instagram you will see many form of my work which many people are amazed by.

Spirit Communication

I work with spirit of all kinds, good and bad, high and low vibrations or energies. I have always believed that if you want something doing then send a spirit to do your bidding, for an offering. I also work with spirit familiar, fetch spirit, wild spirits of the land, Geni Loci and spirit of place. I practice the skill sets of clairvoyance. I can see hear, smell and sense spirit.

Divination's

I practice the skills of all forms of divination's, such as a divining using the pendulum, dowsing rods, bone throwing, witch bones, blackthorn pin divination, candle and pin divination, card reading such as tarot and oracle, black mirror scrying, cauldron scrying, tea leaf reading, palmistry, witch stone casting, flame and wax divination and so much more.  This is a big part of my working and it crosses over with my spirit work. I offer readings online along with others forms of the cunning craft.

Working With Herbs Plants and Trees

I work with all forms of nature lore, I study and and work with herbs, baneful plants, roots and fungus to working with tree lore and the many uses for for trees from the hazel to birch, beech and oak from pine to spruce along with poisons trees such as Yew, I work with nature spirits and earth energies and She of the Thorn Blooded Witch. I do work with plant spirit forms like Mandrake. I also study bushcraft, such as basket making to carving and working with woods to making natural inks, ointments and remedies.

Ancestor Veneration

As a traditional witch I work closely with my ancestors and I also have an altar setup for working and giving offerings to my ancestors. Ancestor work is a big part of my craft practice, for me and my past family members. My ancestors protect me, guide me and work with me. In turn I make offerings to them in the form or a cup of tea, tobacco or rum, whisky, flowers, oils, incense and food.

Enchantments and Casting

As part of my craft I work with enchantments such as enchanting charms for protection, healing and cursing, removing curses to self aid. I also work with bindings, such as binding people, spirit or curses. I work with castings but I hate calling it a spell, I call it casting. So candle casting is the act of energy manipulation through focus for healing, love, money etc. I link in spirit with my work such as my spirit familiar who I call on to do work in return for offerings as payment. I offer these services for a fee, if you need such services then please contact me.

Spirit Familiar or Witches Familiar

A spirit familiar is part of my craft, taken from the more folkloric tradition and also found in traditional witchcraft. However my spirit familiar is not an animal but a physical spirit form that is guided to a witch from the man in black or better known as the witches devil, not Satan but the devil himself after your initiation or pact in to the craft. This form can change over the years, some will have many different spirit familiars and some will even call them up. However they can be dangerous to work with and demand respect, payment and more.

The Study of Witchcraft History and Folklore

In my craft I study medieval witchcraft up to the early 19th century Cornish witchcraft and that of the Peller, Cunning Man or Cunning Women. I study folkloric witchcraft from around the world and the UK as many of the old forms still exist hidden in hoodoo, Slavic witchcraft, Romany gypsy witchcraft and so much more. I

The Witches Devil - The Old One

In my practice we have the witches father, which many witches may call him to make them feel better when working with this ancient deity. I see and work with him in a few different forms that of the cloven hoof, horned goat and I have also encountered him in a bull headed form on the black moon ritual during the summer solstice. He is not one I pray to, he is not my god, I do not worship him and he would never let me fall to knees and pray. He is not Satan of the religion. He is the ancient one, a wild spirit form, the father to the witch.

I do work with a witch mother, for me she came as a vailed women, she had an orb around her head, a snake in her hand and a stang in the other. I do not worship any god or follow any religion but I walk between them all.
