Omen reading, taking note of omens. As a witch, an omen is a sign that spirit has accepted you and are giving you signs to guide you. Omens can be symbols often, these symbols are interpreted as omens. What is an omen? Depends on who you ask, but in general, an omen is viewed as a sign from the natural world that delivers a message of some sort. Typically this message is seen as an indicator of coming good or bad events and as a witch we are particularly in tune with such omens.
Such as the same numbers that appear over and over to a simple feather that falls by your feet in your home only to find a loved one had passed, maybe a dream of a black cat for telling a traitor, a room full of flies tell of an evil entity, a broom falls by a door to warn negative company is coming or you see what looks like a bus crashed within the patterns of clouds in the sky, you see this as a bus arrives and decided to skip it only to find it did wreck and all died.
Dreams can be omens too, this is why many witches keep dream journals and write down anything that may aid them, warn them.
An omen is not like a sign you ask for, an omen is something that will show to you out of the blue when you least expect it, it's our ancestors, the spirit or natural world and universe giving us a warning and pointing us in a direction to help us. An omen indicates that an ominous, important or prophetic event is about to occur or is occurring.
So I am going to host an omen a week, good and bad from history, some folkloric, some still noted today with some very odd ones.
We shall start with.. Itching palms..
Where I hail from if your right palm itches, do not scratch it with your hand but rub it on wood to make it come good. If the left itches sadly left is to leave. But right hand to receive. This is normally associated with money. I swear by it. I can often be seen looking like a nutter, running around looking for wood. You never realise how little wood there is unless you need to rub a palm on it. (no innuendos please people 😂)
